Ford's conception of the "Imagination Box"--which produces whatever Tim thinks of while he's wearing his special hat--is less compelling in this sequel than it was originally (The Imagination Box). Still, the zany action and greedy villains bent on world domination, along with a happy resolution, will satisfy those who longed for another installment; lucky for those readers, still more books seem probable.

Imaginative ten-year-old orphan Tim is happy to befriend the scientist who checks into his adoptive parents' hotel, especially when he discovers that Professor Eisenstone's "Imagination Box" can fabricate anything Tim imagines. Of course, evildoers want to get their hands on the invention, and after they kidnap the professor, a madcap rescue mission begins. A silly adventure peopled by improbable, two-dimensional characters.
